Puerto de la Cruz has unveiled a diverse July festival program that honors the town’s seafaring heritage through traditional religious processions, community events, and expanded entertainment for all ages.

Puerto de la Cruz is gearing up for its most iconic celebrations this July. The local council says this year’s festivities are designed to bring the community together and honor the town’s deep-rooted seafaring heritage. The official program was put together by a team including city officials, the parish priest of Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia, leaders from the three local brotherhoods, and the artists behind this year’s visual theme.

The events run through July 31 and feature several key changes. Most notably, the closing concert will now be held at the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex. Organizers have also combined the traditional Canarian dinner with the baile de magos (folk dance), which will take place on the pier esplanade on July 11. The night before, that same space will host a live music event featuring tribute acts to Estrellas de Buena Vista, Olga Tañón, and Frankie Ruiz.

The religious heart of the festival—honoring the Gran Poder de Dios, the Virgin of Carmen, and San Telmo—remains unchanged. The Virgin of Carmen will be moved to San Telmo on July 4, with processions for the Gran Poder scheduled for July 12 and 13. The highlight of the month, the maritime-terrestrial procession of the Virgin of Carmen, will take place on Tuesday, July 14, and is expected to draw the town's largest crowds.

To appeal to younger audiences, the city is expanding its children’s program with more puppet shows in the Plaza del Charco, featuring the Gorgoritos company and other performers. This effort, supported by local groups and city staff, aims to celebrate the town’s history while encouraging community spirit. The festivities officially begin this Friday with an opening speech delivered by representatives from the three brotherhoods.
