Puerto de la Cruz will welcome the five-star Radisson Resort & Residences Tenerife in December after a sustainable renovation of the former Parque San Antonio hotel, featuring updated infrastructure and a commitment to energy efficiency.

Puerto de la Cruz is getting a new five-star hotel! The local council's Sustainable City department has given the go-ahead for the Radisson Resort & Residences Tenerife, which is set to open in December after a big makeover that started in May.

The old Parque San Antonio hotel has been completely transformed to meet top standards for sustainability, efficiency, and design.

David Hernández, the Councilor for Sustainable City, and Daniel Acosta Matos, the property's technician, checked out the progress on Tuesday, October 14th. They wanted to make sure everything was being built according to the plans and to acknowledge the owner, Tenerife Asset Company's, efforts to save energy.

The deputy mayor pointed out the big improvements, especially in how wastewater is handled. He said that the entire plumbing system has been updated and connected to the town's network, which is essential for managing water responsibly and efficiently. This also gets rid of the three old cesspools.

The councilor also praised the owners for their commitment to responsible building. They've kept the original Canarian style of the building while adding modern construction techniques that improve insulation, energy efficiency, and comfort inside. He explained that this will make the building stronger, use less energy, and be better for the environment, which fits with the town's sustainability goals.

The Radisson Resort & Residences Tenerife will have 240 rooms and will keep the traditional Canarian look of the original building, but with a modern five-star design. The renovation preserves the charm of the old hotel, highlighting its natural light, beautiful gardens, and large trees, which will provide shade and make it a truly green hotel.

The Urban Planning department emphasized their commitment to improving the quality of homes and hotels in the town. They will continue to ensure that connections to sanitation and all aspects of building sustainability meet the highest standards.
