Puerto de la Cruz has approved a €30 million plan for two new privately-funded parking facilities, creating 645 spaces in La Constitución square and Punta Brava, with tenders expected in December and construction starting in early 2026.

Puerto de la Cruz is finally tackling its long-standing parking problem with a €30 million investment. This money will fund two new parking facilities, creating a total of 645 spaces. These will be built in the city center, specifically in La Constitución square and the Punta Brava neighborhood. The plan received final approval at a council meeting on Monday, October 27.

According to Pedro Antonio Campos, the Councilor for Finance and Public Procurement, the contracts for both parking facilities will be put out to tender in December, with separate bids for each project. At the same council meeting, four key documents were approved: a feasibility study, an economic study, a health and safety study, and the initial construction plan. The City Council also confirmed the contract costs, how tariffs will be reviewed, and approved the necessary paperwork for the tender process. These are all crucial steps before companies can submit their bids.

The parking facility in La Constitución square, located in the historic heart of Puerto de la Cruz, will offer 333 spaces. The one in Punta Brava will have 312 spaces. The central facility will span nearly 10,000 square meters across three floors, with each floor providing over 100 parking spots. When construction begins, the city will consider a mobility study from the Special Conservation Plan for the Historic Center to manage its urban impact.

The Punta Brava facility will be slightly larger, covering almost 11,000 square meters, also spread over three levels. This project also includes more than 3,500 square meters of new public space, including a square and landscaped areas. Additionally, a new community building, over 600 square meters in size, will be built. This building will belong to the Puerto de la Cruz City Council and will house various municipal offices.

Campos noted that both parking projects are entirely funded by private companies through a 40-year concession agreement. They were presented to the CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations) last September, drawing interest from several businesses. Construction is expected to start in the first three months of 2026. Once complete, the parking areas will offer three ways to park: for owners, for subscribers, and for short-term visitors.
