The 51st Orvecame Isla Tenerife Histórico rally, the fifth round of the Spanish Historic Vehicle Championship, has started in Puerto de la Cruz and expects a record number of participants.

Puerto de la Cruz is gearing up for a cool event – the 51st Orvecame Isla Tenerife Histórico Rally! It's not just a race, but a real celebration that attracts tourists and helps the local economy.

Organizers from Rallyten Sport, with the support of the City Council for Tourism, officially opened the event at the Costa de Martiánez complex. This rally is an important event in the Spanish calendar.

It will be hot here on September 12 and 13! The rally is the fifth stage of the Spanish Historic Vehicle Championship, so many participants and even more spectators are expected.

Julio Martínez, director of the rally (Rallyten Sport), is pleased that there will be 82 teams this year – 15% more than last year. This shows that the rally is becoming more and more popular!

The opening was attended by the Mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Leopoldo Afonso, the Councillor for Tourism, Désirée Díaz, as well as representatives of the partner cities: Los Realejos, La Orotava, La Guancha, Icod de los Vinos and El Tanque.

Puerto de la Cruz will become the center of the rally:

The race will take place in the north of Tenerife. Participants will compete in 10 sections, with a total length of 113 kilometers. The route will run along the roads of Los Realejos, La Orotava, La Guancha, Icod de los Vinos and El Tanque.

Mayor Leopoldo Afonso emphasized that the rally is not only about drive and adrenaline, but also an opportunity for the city to develop. Thanks to such events, Puerto de la Cruz is recognized in the world, tourists come, and local businesses thrive. The city shows itself as a place where they love sports, culture and active recreation.

The Councillor for Tourism, Désirée Díaz, added that Puerto de la Cruz is always happy to welcome guests and is open to new things. They want to hold events that are beneficial, do not harm nature and help local entrepreneurs earn money. This rally is not only a cool entertainment for fans, but also a great advertisement for the city.

The opening was also attended by Hortensia Hernández, the first female pilot in the Canary Islands. She is a symbol of the fact that motorsport is becoming more open and modern.
