Puerto de la Cruz is hosting the Periplo International Travel and Adventure Literature Festival from October 19 to 25, featuring the new "Meridians" initiative to foster geopolitical and cultural dialogue across Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Puerto de la Cruz is cementing its status as a hub for travel writing and exploration with the launch of "Meridians," a new section of the Periplo International Travel and Adventure Literature Festival. Developed in partnership with the Tenerife Island Council’s Foreign Action department, this initiative aims to move beyond traditional festival formats, positioning the Canary Islands as a key center for geopolitical and cultural dialogue between Europe, Africa, and Asia.

The festival runs from October 19 to 25, featuring a program that blends sociopolitical analysis with personal storytelling. The event kicks off with the "Crossings" photography exhibition by José Naranjo and Juan Luis Rod, alongside a presentation by Javier Brandoli. Throughout the week, speakers including Margaryta Yakovenko, Capucine Trochet, Salah Jamal, Kartiki Gonsalves, and Binta Claire will discuss themes ranging from cinematic storytelling to resilience and historical memory.

The program also introduces "Correspondences," a series of events held in unconventional locations. Details for these Saturday sessions are being kept under wraps; those interested in attending can request information by emailing periplosecreto@festivalperiplo.com.

As a staple of the Canarian cultural calendar, the festival continues to evolve, adapting travel literature to address modern global mobility and cross-continental knowledge exchange. Full details and schedule updates are available at festivalperiplo.com.
