Puerto de la Cruz will host the inaugural Serenada festival at Taoro Park on November 20 and 21, featuring an intimate program of literature, acoustic music, and immersive listening experiences.

Puerto de la Cruz is expanding its cultural calendar this November with the launch of the Serenada festival. Taking place on November 20 and 21 at Taoro Park, the event focuses on blending lyricism and music in an intimate setting. By limiting capacity, organizers aim to move away from large crowds and provide a more immersive, personal experience between artists and the audience—a growing trend across the Canary Islands.

The festival’s core is built around literature, specifically the "Serenada Poets' Meeting." This project invites authors from across the islands to collaborate on an "Emotional Cartography," a collective writing exercise. These works will later be performed during the Palabras al Sereno (Words at Twilight) series and preserved in the festival’s archives. Local officials have highlighted the project as a key way to boost social engagement and showcase the municipality’s natural beauty through art.

The musical program begins on Friday, November 20, with Darío Meta’s Piano Inesperado, which offers an accessible, educational take on piano performance. The evening continues with an acoustic set by Depedro—tickets are available via the festival’s website—and the Cantando Poetas (Singing Poets) series, featuring original compositions by Salomé Moreno, Della Du, and Xavi Suárez.

On Saturday, November 21, Sheila Blanco will perform her musical interpretations of female poets from the Generation of '27, such as Carmen Conde, Ernestina de Champourcin, and Concha Méndez. The day also includes a performance by Elsa Moreno and Prácticas para Inmanecer, followed by a second Cantando Poetas session with Claudia Álamo, Silvia Izquierdo, and La Cangreja.

Each evening concludes with Somnolencia Programada (Programmed Drowsiness). This unique experience, limited to 25 people per session, encourages guests to close their eyes and focus entirely on passive, relaxed listening. With this festival, Puerto de la Cruz continues to establish itself as a leading destination for intimate, high-quality cultural events in the Canary Islands.
