Puerto de la Cruz is hosting its inaugural Constelación Escénica Festival, a weekend-long performing arts event dedicated to celebrating diversity and promoting inclusivity for people with disabilities.
Puerto de la Cruz is hosting the first Constelación Escénica Festival, a new event designed to celebrate diversity through the performing arts. Supported by the local council, the festival aims to use culture as a way to bring people together, reflecting the archipelago’s ongoing commitment to making public life fully accessible to people with disabilities.
The festival runs until this Sunday and features a wide range of activities, including music, dance, dramatherapy, and visual arts. Events will be held at the Castillo de San Felipe and the Sala Teatro Timanfaya.
The festival kicks off today at 6:00 p.m. with a performance by Batucada Isla Baja outside the castle, followed by the opening of Calma, an art exhibition by the Giro-Arte Visual Arts Workshop.
The schedule continues throughout the weekend:
- Friday, 8:00 p.m. (Sala Teatro Timanfaya): Días de sol y sombras by EnbeDanza.
- Saturday, 12:00 p.m. (Venue TBD): Los últimos guardianes del escenario by Platea.
- Sunday, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Castillo de San Felipe): A free dramatherapy workshop titled Cada cuerpo, una estrella; juntos, una constelación, led by Pedro Cuadrado. Registration for this session is available at cutt.ly/tallerdramaterapia.
Beyond providing entertainment, the festival highlights the role of public spaces in creating a more inclusive society. By partnering with specialized groups, the municipal Culture department is showcasing a model of cultural management that prioritizes diversity and encourages meaningful connections between performers and the audience.
