Puerto de la Cruz Hosts Spain's Karate Grand Finals

Puerto de la Cruz will host the Grand Finals of the National and Iberdrola Karate Leagues this weekend, bringing together 1,400 of Spain's top athletes, including world and European medalists, for the season's most important event.

Yesterday, the Miguel Ángel Díaz Molina Sports Center in Puerto de la Cruz hosted the launch event for the Grand Finals of both the National League and the Iberdrola Karate League. These major karate championships will take place this weekend, from Friday the 12th to Sunday the 14th, in the northern city. They will bring together Spain's top karate athletes for the most important event of the national season.

The competition will feature the top eight karatekas from every category, ranging from junior to master. In total, 1,400 athletes from 268 clubs will compete. Among the notable participants are Paola García, a world bronze medalist, and Raúl Martín, a European silver medalist.

Key figures attended the event, including Antonio Moreno, President of the Spanish Karate Federation, and José Pérez, President of the Canarian Federation. Local and regional officials were also present: Leopoldo Afonso, Mayor of Puerto; José Francisco Pérez, Director General of Sports for the Government of the Canary Islands; Yolanda Moliné, Sports Councilor for the Island Council; and Alberto Cabo Padrón, the municipal Sports Councilor.
