The Periplo International Travel and Adventure Literature Festival begins today in Puerto de la Cruz, featuring writers, artists, exhibitions, and discussions on travel, literature, and culture.
The Periplo International Travel and Adventure Literature Festival in Puerto de la Cruz kicks off today, Wednesday, at the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex.
Welcoming guests are poet María Gómez Lara, writer and illustrator Lana Corujo, and writer Véronique Tadjo, who is participating thanks to a partnership with Casa África.
Alongside these main events, communicator Sergi Unanue and jurist Chema Caballero will give presentations. There's also a photography exhibition, "Cumbres a la vista. Miradas desde la montaña," by the Island Mountaineering Federation of Tenerife (FIMT), and artist Juliana Serrano will be contributing to the "Periplo Diverso" program.
María Gómez Lara will present her latest work, "Don Quijote a voces," at 6:00 p.m., discussing the power of words as a source of comfort and resistance with philologist Olga Mesa.
At 7:15 p.m., Lana Corujo, a multi-talented artist from Lanzarote, will discuss her debut novel, "Han cantado bingo," with journalist Eduardo García Rojas. The book tells the story of two sisters growing up in the shadow of a volcano and a family tragedy.
Véronique Tadjo, known for her stories exploring identity, memory, nature, and intercultural dialogue, will present her novel "In the Company of Men" at Lago Martiánez. Journalist José Naranjo will interview her at 8:30 p.m.
Additionally, Puerto de la Cruz artist Juliana Serrano is continuing her "Apodos en Periplo 2025" project. She'll be using spray paint, brushes, and stencils to inscribe some of the city's most well-known and amusing nicknames on the walls of two family homes.
