Puerto de la Cruz is set to host its 53rd annual Bavarian Week from August 23 to 30, reinforcing the city's long-standing cultural and tourism ties with the German market through an expanded program of events.

Puerto de la Cruz continues to strengthen its position as a key destination for German tourists in the Canary Islands, with the upcoming 53rd annual Bavarian Week serving as a testament to this enduring bond. Organized by the local Center for Initiatives and Tourism (CIT), the event is more than just a summer celebration; it is a vital tool for cultural diplomacy and maintaining the loyalty of the German market.

Taking place from August 23 to 30, this year’s festival aims to reach more areas of the city. While the traditional festivities will still be held at the Muelle Esplanade from August 28 to 30, the program now includes events at Lago Martiánez and the new Terraza Mirador Costa Martiánez. By spreading the celebration across these locations, organizers hope to boost local businesses and draw more visitors to one of Spain’s longest-running Bavarian-style festivals.

The event’s success for over half a century is rooted in a strong public-private partnership. Support from companies like INCABE—which will provide the official Munich Oktoberfest beer—alongside local hoteliers and tour operators, highlights the festival's role in promoting the region. As Tenerife works to diversify its tourism, the Bavarian Week remains a crucial link that reinforces the cosmopolitan identity of Puerto de la Cruz.

This year’s program also emphasizes family and community. On Sunday, August 30, the event will feature "Dogtoberfest," where pets are welcome to join the festivities, alongside various children's workshops. Additionally, the organizers have made corporate social responsibility a priority by dedicating support to local non-profit organizations.

During the event’s presentation at the Hotel Silken Saaj Maar, representatives from the Puerto de la Cruz City Council, the Cabildo of Tenerife, and Turismo de Tenerife reaffirmed the importance of this historical connection to the German market. With free admission for all activities, the CIT invites both international visitors and local residents to take part in this long-standing tradition, which remains a cornerstone of summer life in the north of the island.
