Puerto de la Cruz celebrates its 53rd Bavarian Week from August 23 to 30, reinforcing the town's historic cultural and tourism ties with Germany through a series of events spread across the city.
Puerto de la Cruz is once again proving its status as a key destination for German tourists in the Canary Islands with the return of the Bavarian Week-Oktoberfest. Now in its 53rd year, the Center for Tourism Initiatives (CIT) expects the event to provide a significant economic and cultural boost to northern Tenerife from August 23 to 30.
More than just a celebration, the event highlights a historic bond between the islands and Germany that has lasted over half a century. During a recent presentation at the Silken Saaj Maar hotel, organizers explained that this year’s program aims to spread the festivities throughout the town. While the main hub will be at the pier esplanade from August 28 to 30—where official Munich beer will be served—the events will take place in various locations across the town center.
The week kicks off on August 23 with a recital at Lago Martiánez. The schedule also includes parades by German musical groups, rides on the Loro Parque tourist train, and new activities at the Terraza Mirador Costa Martiánez. By spreading the festivities across different venues, organizers hope to make the celebration a natural part of the town’s daily life rather than a standalone event.
The festival concludes on August 30 with a family-friendly focus. The final day will feature "Dogtoberfest," allowing pets to join in the fun at the pier, alongside workshops and activities designed for children. Through this updated format, the CIT aims to keep a long-standing tradition alive while appealing to all ages, further cementing Puerto de la Cruz’s reputation as a destination that blends cultural heritage with a modern, diverse tourism experience.
