The Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has requested the temporary dismissal of the criminal case against Tenerife Inter-island Football Federation President Alejandro Morales Mansito, citing insufficient evidence for alleged misuse of funds.

The Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has asked the court to temporarily close the criminal case against Alejandro Morales Mansito, who is the president of the Tenerife Inter-island Football Federation (FIFT). The prosecutor's office says there isn't enough proof for the alleged crimes. Morales Mansito was being investigated for allegedly misusing funds or disloyal administration.

The case started with a complaint claiming that Morales Mansito used the Federation's bank cards for personal expenses. These expenses, totaling 58,847.25 euros, were supposedly made between August 2022 and January 2025. However, after reviewing court statements, witness testimonies, and bank records, the Public Prosecutor's Office has decided there isn't enough evidence to support the criminal charges.

The prosecutor's report states that the card charges were for things like restaurants, taxis, and airports. Many of these expenses happened on weekends, which often coincided with busy periods for the Federation's sports activities. The Prosecutor's Office believes these expenses fit within the category of representation costs. While the system for justifying these expenses was limited to submitting receipts and there was no formal internal rule, the prosecution couldn't prove that the money was used personally or permanently taken.

Because of this, the Prosecutor's Office is asking for the case to be temporarily dismissed. The court will now decide on this request, considering that witness statements and all documents gathered during the investigation did not prove the reported crimes.

Alejandro Morales Mansito has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation. Now, the Public Prosecutor's Office supports this stance by concluding there isn't enough evidence to charge him.

Lawyers José Carlos Velasco Sánchez and Kevin Hernández Zasterova from Fuster Fabra Abogados, who represent Morales Mansito, fully agree with the prosecutor's request to dismiss the case. They stated, "We completely agree with the Public Prosecutor's request, which confirms what our defense has argued from the start: there was no criminal basis to charge Alejandro Mansito. We have always defended his absolute innocence and believe the Prosecutor's Office's analysis shows that the investigated actions are not criminal." They added, "Our client has always cooperated with justice, and his only wish is for the case to be resolved quickly. We hope justice will be served soon, and his reputation can be fully restored."
