The "Audaces" softball team from Tenerife has been promoted to the Spanish top league for the first time, but risks losing its place due to the lack of a certified stadium.

Tenerife is on top, but for how long? The "Audaces" team from the island of Tenerife has done the incredible – for the first time in history, a club from the Canary Islands has made it to the highest league of Spanish softball, the Division of Honor. This is a great achievement, but there is one problem that could ruin everything.

To play in the top league, the team needs a certified stadium. And "Audaces" has only two months to find one. If they don't make it, the place in the elite, which they honestly won on the field, may disappear due to bureaucracy.

"We have reached the top league, but a lot needs to be changed for this. The most important thing is the field, without it there is nowhere to go," says the team's coach, Benson Salas.

It turns out that money is not the main problem. The biggest obstacle is an ordinary piece of paper. Without permission from the Spanish Softball Federation, "Audaces" simply will not be able to play.

And time is running out. "If an expert from Spain does not come to us in two months to check the field and give permission, we will lose our place," the coach explains. The federation will not compromise: no suitable stadium - no game in the Division of Honor.

Now "Audaces" is training at the "Arenas" stadium. Previously, it was a football field, but it was abandoned. The club has repaired it a bit on its own in order to have the opportunity to train somehow. Of course, the dream is to have your own, modern stadium. But now Benson is considering the option of adapting a regular football field. And, as it turned out, the Spanish Federation has already allowed two other clubs to play on such fields.

"We don't need a place to train, we don't want to bother anyone. We just need a place where we could play 11 matches," says Salas. It doesn't sound like much, but due to the lack of a stadium, it becomes almost impossible.

The "Audaces" club appeared only six years ago. It was created so that women in the Canary Islands could play softball. During this time, the club has grown thanks to perseverance, dedication and a friendly atmosphere.

The road to the top league was not easy. There were problems with the squad, players had to be loaned to other clubs so that they would not lose their form. In addition, the Division of Honor Plata is divided into geographical zones, and there were not enough teams in the Canary Islands to create a separate group. Therefore, "Audaces" had to play in the Galicia zone. But all these difficulties only hardened the team. "The main thing is the discipline of the players," emphasizes Salas, noting the harmonious combination of experienced players and youth.

The Division of Honor Oro is a completely different level. Games become regular, with trips to cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Pamplona. This requires more physical and psychological preparation, but the team's popularity is also growing.

Softball is becoming increasingly popular in the Canary Islands. More than 700 people are involved in it. Therefore, if "Audaces" can gain a foothold in the elite, it will be a great impetus for the development of this sport in the islands. "Having a team in the top league is very important for the future of softball in the islands," says Benson, whose team includes three players from the Spanish national team.
