Death of a man in a well in Tenerife: police lean towards accident
Police believe the death of 50-year-old David Rodriguez Herrera, who was found dead in a well near Valle de Guerra, was an accident, likely due to a fall from a great height.
The man found dead in a well near Valle de Guerra (La Laguna) on September 11 most likely died in an accident. This is the main version currently being considered by the police.
The deceased is 50-year-old David Rodriguez Herrera, known as "Nani." In recent years, he worked as a parking attendant near the Church of San Bartolomé in Tejina. He was also known to the police for having problems with the law.
It is believed that David died in early September. A missing person report was filed a few days later. The police immediately considered his disappearance to be very dangerous.
The body was found approximately six days after death, at a depth of 125 meters in a well in the La Barranquera area. It had already begun to decompose.
Firefighters from the La Laguna park had to work hard to retrieve the body.
The autopsy revealed that the man had multiple fractures that could have been caused by a fall from a great height.
It is likely that "Nani" entered the area through a small door leading to the sewer and the well.
The owner of the well decided to seal this entrance to avoid similar incidents in the future. The work was reportedly completed yesterday morning.
