Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife have arrested three people and seized significant quantities of drugs after raiding a cannabis club suspected of operating as an illegal retail shop.

Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife have shut down a cannabis club in the city center that was allegedly operating as an illegal drug shop.

The operation, led by the National Police with support from local officers, highlights the ongoing challenge of monitoring private associations that use their legal status as a cover for retail drug sales. Investigators had been tracking the club after noticing a steady stream of customers, many of whom were tourists visiting the busy area.

During a court-authorized raid involving a K9 unit, police arrested three people. They also seized nearly 2.8 kilograms of marijuana, over 400 grams of hashish, 287 pre-rolled joints, and 485 euros in cash. The suspects have since appeared in court.

This raid is part of a wider effort to crack down on clubs that break the law by selling drugs to the public. Authorities say this case demonstrates the importance of cooperation between different police forces in preventing criminal activity from hiding behind the appearance of legitimate businesses in popular tourist areas.
