Police Raid in Tenerife Uncovers Drug Den Housing Neglected Children
Spanish police have arrested two individuals for drug trafficking and child neglect after discovering two young girls living in squalid, rodent-infested conditions during a raid in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
A police raid in the Los Gladiolos neighborhood of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has uncovered a disturbing case of drug trafficking linked to severe child neglect. Authorities have launched an investigation into the suspects not only for drug-related crimes but also for violating the rights of two young children.
Following a period of surveillance that confirmed frequent drug sales at the property, National Police officers raided the home and seized 250 grams of cocaine, 73 grams of cutting agents, and 49 grams of hashish. The primary suspect has been jailed, and his partner is also under investigation for her alleged role in the operation.
Beyond the drugs and cash, officers discovered appalling living conditions inside the home. The house was filled with waste and infested with rodents and insects. Two girls, aged three and six, were living in this environment, which posed a serious threat to their physical and mental well-being.
The children were immediately placed under the protection of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office and transferred to the care of the Canary Islands government’s social services. This case has reignited public concern over how small-scale drug trafficking often overlaps with social instability, creating dangerous environments for children.
