The National Police are investigating a case of alleged bullying and assault against a young person in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The victim was cornered on a street in the Bella Vista area by a group of ten teenagers. The leader of this group, who is also a minor, has been identified by the police as the main perpetrator.
This incident happened earlier this week in the south of Gran Canaria. In an alley, the alleged bully attacked and insulted the victim, who was too scared to defend himself. Another person filmed the attack while others encouraged the aggressor.
The five-minute video, which has been shared online, shows the young bully shouting questions and forcing the victim, whom he calls "little one," to repeatedly say, "The damn boss and the chief."
Some of the teenagers with the bully asked him to leave the victim alone and told the person filming to put their phone away. Others, however, cheered him on. The alleged aggressor can be heard laughing and saying, "Go over there, I don't have space to hit him." The victim, clearly intimidated, replied, "I don't want trouble with anyone."
The bully then slapped the victim's hand to take his phone. The victim was unable to defend himself or even respond verbally to the abuse. The bully said, "Let's settle this like men." The victim insisted, "I'm not going to fight you. I can give you some money, but I don't want to fight," while looking down.
The assault continued. The perpetrator picked up a cigarette butt and held it near the victim, forcing him to smoke it. He laughed at the victim, calling him "so little" and even pretended to burn his arm with the cigarette. Some of his companions again asked him to stop, but he didn't. Others urged him on, suggesting a fight or a slap contest. The victim repeatedly stated, "I don't want a fight."
Cornered against a wall, the aggressor slapped the victim several times while laughing. At this point, another bystander intervened, saying, "Can't you see he's scared?" The attacker continued to laugh, and the victim's fear can be heard in the video.
The victim's parents have notified the National Police, who have identified everyone involved. They intend to file a formal complaint. Once the complaint is filed, the case will be passed to the Family and Women's Support Unit (UFAM) at the Maspalomas Local Police Station for further investigation.
