Police Investigate Suspicious Incident After Man Found Injured in Tenerife Forest
Police in northern Tenerife are investigating whether a man found with severe injuries in a remote forest area was the victim of a hit-and-run or a violent assault.
Police in northern Tenerife are investigating a serious incident that remains shrouded in mystery. Authorities are currently working to determine whether a local man’s injuries were caused by a traffic accident or a violent assault—a possibility that has become a primary focus of the investigation.
The man was discovered on Friday morning by forest fire crews (Brifor) patrolling near Icod El Alto in Los Realejos. After emergency services were alerted, local police arrived and spoke with the victim, a resident of the La Vera neighborhood in Puerto de la Cruz. He claimed he had been struck by a vehicle he did not see approaching.
However, investigators are questioning this account due to the nature of his injuries, which include a fractured jaw. Because his explanation does not seem to align with his physical condition, the case has been handed over to the Judicial Police in Puerto de la Cruz-Los Realejos.
Because there were no witnesses and the incident occurred in a remote, difficult-to-access forest area, police are conducting a thorough forensic reconstruction. Their priority is to establish a clear timeline of events and determine whether a crime was committed.
