Police Hunt Two Suspects Following Armed Robbery in La Laguna
Spanish police are searching for two identified suspects following an armed robbery at a late-night business in San Cristóbal de La Laguna on March 6.
Security in 24-hour businesses is back in the spotlight following a violent robbery on March 6 in the Vistabella neighborhood of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Police are currently searching for two men, who have already been identified, in connection with the crime.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m., highlighting the risks faced by employees working alone. The two men, their faces covered, entered the shop armed with large knives—including a butcher’s knife—while no customers were present. They intimidated the employee by banging on the counter and shouting demands, eventually forcing the worker to hand over the cash drawer when they could not operate the register themselves.
The National Police’s Judicial Police Brigade is leading the investigation, which includes reviewing the shop's security footage. Forensic specialists have also examined the scene and recovered a knife left behind by the suspects as they fled. Because weapons were used, the crime carries a significant prison sentence due to the danger posed to the victim.
While authorities have identified the two suspects, both of whom are from the Canary Islands, they have not yet been captured. Police are using fingerprint evidence and security footage to track them down, as the incident renews concerns about the safety of late-night businesses in La Laguna.
