Police Fine Group for Noise Violations and Illegal Car Use in Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Local police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife fined four individuals after their loud, makeshift car sound system disrupted residents in the La Salud and Salamanca neighborhoods.
Residents in the La Salud and Salamanca neighborhoods of Santa Cruz de Tenerife had their peace disrupted early last Sunday by a group of four young people using a car as a loud, makeshift sound system. Local police intervened after receiving numerous complaints from neighbors who had been kept awake for hours.
The incident highlights the ongoing issue of street parties and the use of high-powered audio equipment in public spaces, which violates local noise and rest regulations. Following the reports, officers tracked the group to the area near Las Mesas park, where they found a white Seat Ibiza with its trunk open, blasting music at a high volume.
The police investigation led to several penalties. Officers discovered that the car’s vehicle inspection (ITV) had expired in August of last year. Additionally, the group was fined for drinking alcohol in public and for leaving the area littered with beer containers, violating municipal waste ordinances.
This event illustrates the challenge authorities face in controlling noise that travels through ravines and elevated areas, often disturbing distant residential neighborhoods. The intervention served as a reminder that those who disturb the peace or ignore road safety and cleanliness laws will face legal consequences.
