Authorities in Tenerife have dismantled two indoor cannabis farms in La Victoria de Acentejo, marking another step in the ongoing effort to stop illegal drug production on the island. The operation was a joint effort between the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard.
Following an investigation by Customs Surveillance and the Civil Guard, police confirmed that two residential properties were being used to grow and distribute marijuana. After obtaining judicial authorization, officers raided the homes, leading to the arrest of two people and charges against a third.
The search revealed highly sophisticated growing operations. Officers seized 448 marijuana plants, nearly 12 kilograms of ready-to-sell buds, and 46 grams of hashish. They also confiscated cash, two vehicles, and professional-grade equipment, including advanced irrigation, climate control, and lighting systems. All evidence has been handed over to the local court.
This operation highlights the growing challenge of indoor drug cultivation. Because these facilities are hidden inside private homes, they can produce drugs year-round, forcing police to monitor residential areas more closely for suspicious activity and unusual electricity usage. The suspects now face charges related to public health and drug trafficking.
