Spanish police have arrested over ten people and seized luxury vehicles in a crackdown on cannabis clubs in southern Tenerife suspected of operating as illegal drug trafficking hubs.

Police in southern Tenerife have arrested more than ten people in a crackdown on cannabis clubs suspected of operating as illegal drug distribution centers. The operation was led by the Central Narcotics Brigade from Madrid, working alongside local officers from the island’s Southern Police Station.

Authorities sealed off two premises in the Varadero area of Guía de Isora as part of a sealed judicial investigation overseen by the Arona Court. Beyond the alleged drug trafficking, investigators are looking into whether those arrested are linked to a history of property crimes in popular tourist areas.

The scale of the operation highlights the significant wealth generated by these illicit activities. During the raids on Tuesday and Wednesday, police froze several bank accounts and seized a fleet of luxury vehicles, including models from Lamborghini, Mercedes, Range Rover, BMW, Abarth, and Nissan, as well as several motorcycles.

This case is part of a wider trend across the Canary Islands, where nearly 130 similar establishments have been shut down in recent years in areas like Adeje, Arona, and the capital. Security forces believe these clubs often use the guise of legal cannabis consumption to mask large-scale drug trafficking aimed at tourists. The ongoing investigation aims to dismantle the network, trace the origin of the seized assets, and hold the club managers accountable for their alleged criminal activities.
