Spanish airline Plus Ultra extended its flight cancellations between Spain and Venezuela until December 9, citing advice from the Spanish Air Safety Agency regarding Caracas airspace.

The Spanish airline Plus Ultra has extended its flight cancellations between Spain and Venezuela until December 9. This decision follows advice from the Spanish Air Safety Agency (AESA), which recommended against flying over the airspace near Caracas' Maiquetía airport.

In a statement released this Thursday, the airline explained: "Following warnings from the Spanish air safety authority, we must not operate flights on our Madrid-Caracas-Madrid and Tenerife-Caracas-Tenerife routes from December 6 to December 9, 2025."

Plus Ultra is asking passengers booked on these flights to get in touch with its call center.

These extended cancellations come even though Plus Ultra announced on Tuesday that Venezuela's government, led by Nicolás Maduro, has stopped the airline from operating in the country. This suspension happened because Plus Ultra had temporarily canceled its flights to Caracas.

Plus Ultra said on Tuesday, "Yesterday (Monday), we received a notice from the Venezuelan aviation authority (INAC) telling us they are suspending our commercial flights in Venezuela."

So far, INAC has not publicly confirmed that it has suspended permits for Plus Ultra or any other new airlines. This is different from last Wednesday, when INAC publicly canceled the operating licenses for Iberia, TAP, Avianca, Latam Colombia, Turkish, and Gol. That decision came after those airlines were given 48 hours to restart their flights to Venezuela.
