Pinolere Cultural Association Announces 2026 'Cho Feriantes de Honor' Award Winners

The Pinolere Cultural Association has announced the winners of the 2026 "Cho Feriantes de Honor" awards following its general assembly on July 17. Now in their twentieth year, these awards celebrate the vital partnerships between community groups and local organizations that help preserve the Canary Islands' intangible heritage.

The awards ceremony will take place on September 4, marking the opening of the 41st Pinolere Craft Fair at the association’s ethnographic park. This year, the organization has chosen to honor three recipients who have long supported its mission:

• Institutional Award: The Liceo de Taoro is recognized for its role in protecting the traditions of the La Orotava Valley and its long-standing support for the association’s work.
• Business Award: Transportes Paluper, a family-run business in La Orotava operating since 1973, is honored for over 40 years of providing essential logistics for local craft and food events.
• Individual Award: Manuel Domínguez González, the current Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands, is recognized for his history of cooperation with the association, dating back to his time leading the Los Realejos City Council.

By presenting these awards, the association continues its commitment to highlighting the people and organizations that make cultural and educational projects possible in rural areas—a sector that faces ongoing challenges with funding and attracting new generations to keep artisan traditions alive.
