The 40th annual crafts fair has started in Pinerolo, where more than 180 artisans are showcasing traditional and modern handmade products, as well as celebrating craft traditions with a mural and awards.

The jubilee, 40th craft fair has started in Pinolere! More than 180 artisans from all over the archipelago have gathered here. Until September 7, you can see a combination of traditions, modern ideas, and the work of young talents who continue the craft business. The fair is organized by the cultural association "Pinolere - a cultural project."

The opening was marked by a mural in honor of the Canarian artisans, created by Jonathan Airecor. This work of art will remain here forever, as it adorns the wall of the association's building. The mural depicts Juan Ramírez Pérez, a reed master from Santa Lucía de Tirajana.

Next to the mural, a plaque was installed as a sign of gratitude from Pinolere. This symbolizes the importance of preserving the spirit of the fair and passing on craft traditions to future generations.

Of course, the main characters of the fair are the artisans themselves. Among the many interesting stands, the work of Sibisse Faina from Candelaria stands out, who has been coming to the fair with her jewelry since 2018. Her rings and necklaces with stones (such as nickel or turquoise) are painstaking work that takes from an hour to several days. And visitors can't pass by candles that look like real cakes and desserts! One woman even bought five of them at once.

Nearby is the Trapitos'ss workshop, where textile dolls filled with cotton are made. They can be used to decorate a home or for children's games. The dolls come in different sizes and styles: for storing bags, sweets, or simply as decorative figurines. It takes from one to one and a half days to create one doll, the artisans say.

Fatima Lemes created El Mundo de Faa, where she decorates and personalizes fabrics. She takes on any order, but she likes to draw animals the most, because she is a big fan of pets. At fairs, Fatima often adds Canarian motifs, such as cacti, but admits that animals are her biggest passion.

During the opening, the Cho Feriantes 2025 award was also presented. This year it was received by Gráficas Echeyde, Cabildo de Tenerife, and a resident of Pinolere, Genoveva Hernández, who has been participating in the fair from the very beginning and has been preparing food for artisans, guests, and visitors for two decades.

In addition, the "Heritage of Villa La Orotava" award was presented to criales enramados and their founder, Pedro Villar Morales (posthumously). The initiators of the fair and José Luis de León Torres, the author of the first poster of the event, were also honored.

Visitors did not want to miss the opening of the anniversary fair. For many, Pinolere is a place where you can discover the world of crafts. "We come here with our children because we think it's important for them to see these things made with their own hands. This is the best way to teach them to appreciate our culture," says Laura Martín, a mother of two.

The fair also attracts tourists. "I came here by chance, taking the bus, and found myself in a very welcoming atmosphere. Now I will take home unique handmade souvenirs," says Sophie Müller from Germany.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a rich program of events from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be master classes, exhibitions, and much more!
