The Periplo International Travel and Adventure Literature Festival in Puerto de la Cruz moves to the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex for its 13th edition, featuring over twenty guests sharing travel stories and cultural insights from October 20th to 26th.

The Periplo International Travel and Adventure Literature Festival in Puerto de la Cruz is moving to a new location this year. The Puerto de la Cruz City Council announced that the festival's talks and gatherings will be held at the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex instead of the La Ranilla neighborhood. This change is due to circumstances beyond the festival organizers' control. The festival, now in its thirteenth year, will take place next week.

The announcement was made at a meeting attended by Mayor Leopoldo Afonso, Culture Councilor Desiré Díaz, Tenerife Cabildo Councilor José Carlos Acha, Comando Periplo platform member Matilde Perera, and journalist and writer Eduardo García Rojas.

Over twenty guests will share their stories at the festival in Puerto de la Cruz from October 20th to 26th.

The mayor emphasized the festival's success, thanks to the hard work of the team and the impact of its attendees. He also noted that the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex is a unique venue for this year's event. The City Council explained that the location change was due to noise concerns, but the festival will continue to showcase the city's culture.

Periplo explores travel as a powerful force that transforms both travelers and listeners, creating a shared experience. Writers, explorers, poets, journalists, and others will turn Puerto de la Cruz into a hub of stories, inviting exploration without leaving the city. The festival captures the phases of departure, travel, and return, offering reflections through storytelling.

From October 20th to 26th, the town in Tenerife will host book presentations, author discussions, photo exhibitions, theater and music performances, workshops, and educational activities. You can find more information on the festival's website: https://www.festivalperiplo.com/.

For example, photojournalist Gervasio Sánchez will discuss the responsibility of witnessing conflicts and focusing on the dignity of victims in "The Eyes of War." Afghan journalist Khadija Amin, exiled after the Taliban took Kabul in 2021, will participate in "Silenced Voices: The Erasure of Women in Afghanistan."

The works of Aníbal Bueno and Chema Caballero explore humanity and its beliefs. Russian writer and exiled feminist activist Daria Serenko will present "I Wish Ashes for My Home," focusing on literature as a form of resistance. Véronique Tadjo, a prominent voice in African literature, will present "In the Company of Men." Local journalist and writer Juan Cruz will discuss "Secret and Passion of Literature," while Silvia Vidal, Jordi Esteva, and Jordi Serrallonga will share their adventurous experiences.

Eduardo García Rojas ("Landscapes of the Soul"), Kevin Wittmann ("The Footprint of Maps"), and Nuria Rodríguez ("The Invention of Modern Travel") will focus on territory and memory. Lola Nieto will present "The Naked Island," and Lana Corujo will discuss "They Have Sung Bingo," a novel influenced by memory, childhood, and the landscapes of Lanzarote.

These are just a few of the voices among the festival's more than twenty guests. The festival also includes sections like Periplo Training and Periplo Secret.
