The Periplo 2025 festival in Puerto de la Cruz will host experts discussing decolonizing perspectives, coastal histories, and nomadic archaeology, alongside a children's storytelling event, all aimed at fostering cultural understanding.

Periplo 2025, the International Travel and Adventure Literature Festival in Puerto de la Cruz, wants us to learn from the past and understand different cultures to become better people. This Friday, the festival encourages us to look at other groups and societies, both past and present, in a new way, without relying on old stereotypes.

To help us do this, the Costa de Martiánez Tourist Complex will host three experts: Agustín Pániker, who knows a lot about Asian culture; Noemí Sabugal, a writer known for her work on the stories and memories of the Spanish coast; and Jordi Serrallonga, an archaeologist who has traveled the world.

Pániker, along with editor Pilar Rubio Remiro, will present "Decolonizing the Gaze" at 6:00 p.m., encouraging us to learn about India through its diverse culture, society, and history. Then, at 7:15 p.m., Sabugal, also with Rubio Remiro, will discuss her book "Sea Labyrinth: A Journey Through the Life and History of Our Coasts." Finally, at 8:30 p.m., Jordi Serrallonga will talk with Eduardo García Rojas about his book "A Nomadic Archaeologist in Search of Dr. Jones."

Before these talks, at 4:30 p.m., writer Beatriz Berrocal will host a special event for children and families called "Stories to Understand the World."
