Ópera de Tenerife Hosts First In-Person Lecture on 'Bluebeard’s Castle'
Ópera de Tenerife will host its first in-person lecture on April 8, featuring Javi Alonso exploring the themes of Béla Bartók’s Bluebeard's Castle ahead of its late-April performances.
Ópera de Tenerife is expanding its outreach efforts this season by hosting its first in-person lecture led by Javi Alonso. The Tenerife Auditorium has organized this session to explore Bluebeard's Castle, the Béla Bartók opera that will headline the venue’s schedule at the end of April.
The event, titled Behind the 7 Doors: Desire and Identity in Bluebeard's Castle, will take place on April 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chamber Hall. During the lecture, Alonso will explain the key themes of the opera, which will be performed in a contemporary production by Pedro Chamizo on April 25 and 26 in the Symphony Hall.
This session builds on a three-year partnership between the auditorium and Alonso, a communicator well-known online for his ability to make opera accessible. He has previously created various content for the venue, including plot summaries and interviews with cast members.
Tickets for the lecture are five euros and can be purchased on the auditorium’s website, at the box office (open Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.), or by calling 902 317 327 during those same hours. Through this initiative, the auditorium aims to help audiences better connect with complex 20th-century works.
