The fifth edition of the Veranos del Taoro Festival in Puerto de la Cruz will feature Broadway star Patti LuPone alongside acclaimed Spanish actresses in a program designed to boost the region's cultural and economic profile.

The fifth edition of the Veranos del Taoro Festival marks a major milestone for culture in the Canary Islands, cementing its goal of bringing world-class talent to a historic setting. The program, officially announced this week, features Broadway legend and three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone. She will be joined by acclaimed actresses Anabel Alonso, performing La mujer rota, and Lola Herrera, starring in Camino a la Meca.

The festival returns to the Espacio Laurel de Indias in Puerto de la Cruz’s Parque de la Sortija. This venue is central to the city’s strategy of using culture to drive economic growth. Mayor Leopoldo Afonso and Culture Councilor Desiré Díaz noted that the festival is key to raising the municipality's profile and weaving artistic excellence into the local community.

Alfonso Cabello, Deputy Minister of the Presidency for the Canary Islands Government, emphasized the festival’s deeper meaning. By centering the event around the Indian laurel tree, the festival honors both local nature and the historic ties between the islands and Latin America, helping to place the region on the global arts map.

This year also introduces a new partnership with the Gran Hotel Taoro. According to hotel director Gustavo Escobar, the hotel will be more than just a place to stay; it will host artist meet-and-greets and public events. This collaboration aims to turn the festival into an immersive experience, allowing visitors to connect with the unique architecture and heritage of northern Tenerife beyond the stage.
