Three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone will bring her improvisational show, Songs from a Hat, to Tenerife and Gran Canaria this June for two exclusive performances.

Patti LuPone is heading to the Canary Islands this June, marking a significant moment for Spain’s cultural calendar. The arrival of the American star—who boasts three Tony Awards, two Oliviers, and two Grammys—highlights a growing trend of national festivals attracting world-class talent with unique, high-caliber performances.

LuPone’s show, Songs from a Hat, breaks away from the traditional recital format. Instead of a set list, the repertoire is chosen at random from a hat, forcing LuPone and her musical director, pianist Joseph Thalken, to build the performance in real time. This improvisational approach tests the legendary performer's versatility and ensures that every show is a one-of-a-kind experience, centered on audience interaction and personal storytelling.

The Spanish tour features two key dates:

  • June 19: Veranos del Taoro Festival, Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife) at 10:00 p.m.
  • June 21: Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for both shows are currently available through the official festival website.

LuPone’s visit is more than just a concert; it is a masterclass from a performer defined by iconic roles in Evita and Gypsy. Critics from The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Los Angeles Times have long praised her ability to bring intense, physical emotion to the stage, transforming large venues into intimate settings. With this tour, LuPone proves she remains one of the few artists capable of captivating an audience through nothing more than raw vocal talent and a genuine connection with her listeners.
