
Paraglider Dies in Tenerife Accident
A 41-year-old paraglider died Monday after an accident in the Las Moraditas area of Adeje, Tenerife, despite extensive resuscitation efforts by emergency services.
A 41-year-old paraglider died on Monday after an accident in the Las Moraditas area of Adeje, Tenerife. Canary Islands emergency services (1-1-2) confirmed the death.
The accident happened around 1:04 p.m. when 112 received a call about a paraglider who had crashed and needed help. Emergency teams were quickly sent, including a helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES), an ambulance with medical staff from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), firefighters from Tenerife, and the Civil Guard.
Rescuers from the GES helicopter reached the paraglider and found him in cardiac arrest. They evacuated him by air. During the flight to the Adeje Volunteer Firefighters' helipad, they tried to revive him. Medical staff from SUC continued advanced CPR on the ground, but they were unable to save him, and his death was confirmed. The Civil Guard is now investigating how the accident happened.
