Over 500 Young Athletes Compete in Canary Islands’ Conquista Kids Obstacle Race

Children’s obstacle course racing continues to thrive in the Canary Islands, with over 500 young athletes gathering this Sunday for the latest edition of Conquista Kids. The event has grown from a local competition into a national benchmark, proving just how popular activities that combine physical fitness with social development have become for children.
Young athletes aged 4 to 14 traveled from Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, and Gran Canaria to participate in the event, which took place at El Pinar park and Martín Corvo street in La Victoria de Acentejo. Led by organizer Jonathan Gutiérrez, the course featured challenges tailored to different age groups, including mud pits, water obstacles, and a fun foam finale.
Mayor Juan Antonio García Abreu praised the event for its educational impact. He noted that beyond the competition, the day focused on teaching children the importance of cooperation and sportsmanship. Hosting such an event requires careful planning and strict safety protocols, but it serves as a valuable addition to the region’s healthy leisure activities.
