Oscar-Winner Stephen Warbeck to Headline Fimucité’s 20th Anniversary Gala
Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck will headline the 20th anniversary of the Tenerife International Film Music Festival, featuring a celebratory gala concert and educational workshops for emerging composers.
The 20th edition of the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (Fimucité) marks a major milestone with the confirmed attendance of Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck. His participation highlights the prestige of the world’s longest-running film music festival and reinforces its commitment to connecting professional sound design with music education.
The highlight of his visit will take place on July 19 at the Auditorio de Tenerife’s Symphony Hall. During the "Fimucité 20 Red Carpet Gala," the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and the Tenerife Film Choir, led by festival founder and director Diego Navarro, will perform a special program celebrating two decades of cinematic history. In addition to the concert, Warbeck—best known for his Shakespeare in Love score—will participate in the Film Scoring Academy, a program dedicated to sharing expertise between industry veterans and emerging composers.
Warbeck’s career is defined by his remarkable versatility. Beyond his work on major films like Billy Elliot and Jeanne du Barry, he is highly respected in the performing arts. His extensive collaborations with the Royal Shakespeare Company, along with his success on Broadway and the West End—recognized by BAFTA and Drama Desk awards—make him a central figure in modern narrative music.
This landmark event is supported by the Cabildo de Tenerife’s Tourism and Culture departments, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, and the Canary Islands Institute of Cultural Development. The festival’s continued success as a cultural pillar of the archipelago relies on this network of public and private partnerships, as well as the essential technical support of the Auditorio and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. After twenty years, Fimucité remains a vital international hub for the film music industry.
