A kickboxer, suspected of kidnapping and murdering a man in Tenerife, has been transferred to a prison in mainland Spain due to threats to his safety.

A kickboxer from Tenerife, Moisés Baut, one of the three suspects in the kidnapping and murder of 34-year-old Alberto González, has been transferred from a local prison to the mainland. The tragedy occurred at the end of July.

According to sources close to the investigation, the judge handling the case has received confirmation of Baut's transfer from Tenerife II prison, where he had been held since August 2.

The other two suspects – Aaron Vargas, president of a local football club, and Jonathan Martin, a nightclub security guard – remain in prison in Tenerife. They are accused of kidnapping, torturing, and murdering Alberto González, as well as severely beating his friend Leon.

Baut (known as Moi the Big-Eared) and Martin (the Fat One) turned themselves in to the police on July 30. They arrived in a Toyota, in the trunk of which they found the body of Alberto González, and in the back seat, a beaten Leon, who survived. Aaron Vargas was arrested three days later, on August 1.

It is said that these three men had a criminal history related to thefts from drug dealers. Because of this, their stay in Tenerife II prison was dangerous, as there were inmates there who had questions for them. This made ensuring their safety difficult.

The prison administration warned about this, so the judge decided to transfer Moisés Baut to another prison on the mainland. Perhaps the same decision will be made regarding the other prisoners.

Because of this, when the three detainees were brought to court on August 2 to testify, serious security measures were taken. The Palace of Justice was surrounded by police. The detainees exercised their right not to testify.

The police continue to investigate the murder and do not rule out new arrests. There is suspicion that other people may have been involved in the kidnapping and murder of Alberto González, a man with a criminal past.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police have already reconstructed the chronology of events that led to the arrest of Aaron Vargas, Moisés Baut, and Jonathan Martin. They are suspected of murder (or manslaughter), causing grievous bodily harm, illegal imprisonment, and abuse.

According to the main version of the police, it all started in April. During a music festival in southern Tenerife, Alberto had a conflict with members of a gang from Añaza. The fight continued in a nightclub, where Alberto was injured by a member of a rival group with whom he had long been at odds.

After that, threats began. Police believe that shots were even fired at the house of one of the members of the gang from Añaza to intimidate them.

On July 28, an acquaintance of Alberto (who was called Albertito) arranged a meeting with him in a supermarket parking lot. Alberto arrived with his friend Leon in an Audi registered to a car rental company.

But instead of an acquaintance, members of a rival gang appeared in the parking lot, likely Moisés Baut and Jonathan Martin. Alberto and Leon realized they had been lured into a trap.

Investigators believe that it was then that members of the gang from Añaza kidnapped Alberto and Leon, forced them into a car, and began beating them. They were held in different houses.

The investigation points to two main locations where the events took place: a farm in Lomo de Mena and a house on Salto del Ángel Street. The latter was reportedly seized by the gang from Añaza, two members of which are associated with an eviction company.

On August 1, police conducted searches in these two locations. The next day, the judge ruled to arrest the three detainees.

The kidnapping lasted three days, from July 28 to 30. On the morning of July 30, Moisés Baut and Jonathan Martin turned themselves in to the police, bringing with them the body of Alberto González and a seriously injured Leon with a head injury.

During the detention, the victims were beaten with hammers and tied with cable ties. There is information that some of the attackers filmed the beatings on their phones. Police were looking for these videos but have not yet found them.

Alberto González was buried on August 5. His family still does not know the official cause of death. On August 20, a rally in his honor will be held in the square near the church. The poster reads: "The Canary Islands say 'enough' to the impunity of the mafia on the islands."
