After the assault, the 46-year-old suspect fled through the city streets. He was eventually caught on Calle Progreso, where he resisted arrest, requiring a uniformed patrol to help subdue him.
The attack was severe; the victim was dragged behind dumpsters, struck with objects, and pushed against a wall. When officers searched the suspect, they found items suggesting he was involved in organized shoplifting, including a bag lined with insulation to bypass security sensors and several stolen clothing items from a local business.
This case illustrates the challenges police face in urban areas, where violent crime and theft often overlap. The suspect was taken into custody and is awaiting a court appearance. The stolen goods have been returned to the business owners, and the suspect remains in police detention.
