Two off-duty Civil Guard officers arrested an 18-year-old man for a violent knife-point robbery in San Isidro, Tenerife.

Two off-duty Civil Guard officers stopped a robbery in San Isidro, Tenerife, this week. According to an official statement, an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with violent robbery after allegedly threatening a pedestrian with a knife.

The officers, who are based at the Playa de las Américas station, noticed the man acting suspiciously while wearing a hood and concealing a sharp object. They followed him discreetly and intervened when they saw him approach a woman and threaten her to steal her belongings.

The officers quickly neutralized the suspect, who resisted arrest, and seized the weapon as evidence. While the intervention was successful, the victim left the scene before she could be identified, which has made the legal process more difficult. The suspect has since been handed over to the courts.

This incident highlights the vital role of police presence in public safety. Under the Spanish Penal Code, robbery involving violence or intimidation carries a prison sentence of two to five years, with stricter penalties applied when a weapon is used.
