Octavi Pujades Highlights Teide National Park’s Ecological Significance
Actor Octavi Pujades has brought renewed attention to the scientific and ecological significance of Tenerife’s Teide National Park after sharing his experience exploring the UNESCO World Heritage site’s unique volcanic landscape.
Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is back in the spotlight after actor Octavi Pujades shared his recent visit on social media. His trip highlighted both the park’s scientific importance and its status as a must-see destination.
During his visit, Pujades took the cable car up to La Rambleta, over 3,500 meters above sea level. His experience showcased the unique volcanic landscape, which, despite its harsh appearance, supports a variety of specialized wildlife. He also pointed out the park’s active volcanic nature, noting the high-temperature gas emissions still present today.
Pujades also shared the physical reality of exploring the park at such high altitudes, where lower oxygen levels make hiking more demanding. He trekked along trail number 12 to the Pico Viejo viewpoint, which offers a stunning look at the massive crater—one of more than 300 volcanic cones that define Tenerife’s dramatic scenery.
