The formal establishment of the Urban Conservation Entity for the Valle de Güímar Industrial Estate marks a strategic shift toward a public-private partnership model aimed at modernizing infrastructure and boosting economic competitiveness in Tenerife.

The formal establishment of the Urban Conservation Entity (EUC) for the Valle de Güímar Industrial Estate marks a major turning point for Tenerife’s infrastructure. Following a constituent assembly held this week, this move ends over a decade of uncertainty and shifts the estate toward a public-private partnership model designed to overcome the municipal fragmentation that has long held back its development.

Led by the Island Council’s Industry Department, the new management body brings together the municipalities of Arafo, Candelaria, and Güímar, alongside local business owners. By moving past local administrative barriers, the group can now pursue a unified strategy. Under the new agreement, public authorities will provide a fixed annual budget, while property owners will cover the remaining costs for maintenance and infrastructure improvements based on their property size.

For businesses, the EUC offers a direct say in how the estate is managed, in exchange for a commitment to improve the standards of their facilities and building exteriors. Island Council President Rosa Dávila and Vice President Lope Afonso emphasized that the goal is to turn the area into a competitive logistics hub that attracts investment and creates specialized jobs.

This change not only modernizes essential services but also aligns the estate with modern management trends seen across Spain, where EUCs are used to ensure that business parks remain sustainable and high-quality. With this new entity in place, the Valle de Güímar is moving away from years of administrative confusion and into a new phase of professional maintenance and growth, cementing its role as a key industrial engine for the Canary Islands.
