La Laguna will re-tender the 1.5 million euro restoration of Casa Menéndez after the first competition failed to attract any participants.

In La Laguna, they are planning to re-announce the tender for the restoration of Casa Menéndez. The first tender, announced in May with a budget of 1.5 million euros, failed because no one applied.

Now, the city council wants to actively inform construction companies about the new competition to attract more participants. It is said that some firms simply did not know about the previous tender or did not have enough people to carry out the work.

"We know that companies are interested, so we will announce the tender again as soon as we prepare all the documents," explained Ángel Chinea, who is responsible for this area.

The exact date has not yet been announced, but they promise to do so as soon as possible. It is said that the main conditions of the work will remain the same as in the first tender, and only the schedule will be changed. The budget is also planned to remain at 1.5 million euros.

Casa Menéndez is to be restored to create a cultural center for various types of art.

The building is located in the Gracia-Finca España district. It is a former family home that has become the property of the city. It was built in 1949, has three floors and an area of almost 500 square meters. The house stands on a large plot of land of over 6,500 square meters, which also belongs to the city.

By the way, in April last year, the city council announced plans to build a new building for the School of Music and Performing Arts next to Casa Menéndez.
