La Laguna's San Matías neighborhood will gain a new public car park offering 250-300 spaces, with completion anticipated by early next year.

La Laguna is set to get a new public car park in the San Matías neighborhood, offering between 250 and 300 spaces. The Public Works and Infrastructure Department expects it to be finished by early next year.

The town owns the land, which sits between San Mauricio, San Nicolás, and San Andrés streets. The department has already put up two rows of blocks and boundary walls to make the new parking area safe and visible.

The next steps involve cleaning and preparing the land to create the parking spaces, making the best use of the plot's size and conditions. This work is also expected to be finished by early next year.

La Laguna's Mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, noted that since his term began, a key goal for his government, especially the Public Works and Infrastructure Department, has been to increase available parking across the town. This effort is in response to requests from residents in all five districts.

"These projects are progressing as public land becomes available," he added, "and this land must also meet certain technical and practical needs for parking."

It's worth remembering that last October, the City Council announced it bought three plots in Tejina to turn into public parking. Also this year, a new free temporary parking area near El Cardonal has been announced, which can hold almost a hundred vehicles. Another similar parking area is planned for Los Majuelos.
