New Management Entity Ends Decade of Gridlock at Tenerife’s Valle de Güímar Industrial Park
The launch of the Urban Conservation Entity at Tenerife’s Valle de Güímar Industrial Park ends a decade of administrative gridlock, establishing a public-private partnership to modernize infrastructure and drive economic growth.
The launch of the Urban Conservation Entity (EUC) at the Valle de Güímar Industrial Park marks a major turning point for Tenerife’s economy. Following a recent constituent assembly, this move ends over a decade of administrative gridlock, allowing the Tenerife Island Council and the municipalities of Arafo, Candelaria, and Güímar to resolve the legal uncertainty that has long held back one of the Canary Islands' most important industrial hubs.
Supported by island president Rosa Dávila and key industry officials, the new management body addresses a long-standing request from local businesses. The entity operates on a model of shared financial responsibility: both the government and property owners will contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the park’s infrastructure. In return, business owners now have a direct say in how the site is managed, a shift designed to ensure higher standards of quality and safety.
This progress follows the final approval of the park’s urbanization plans, which the Island Council secured just two months ago after years of delays. With these milestones achieved, the focus can now shift to modernizing access roads and upgrading essential services—both of which are vital for attracting new investment and creating skilled jobs.
The EUC is a standard tool used across Spain to manage large business parks and bridge the gap between different municipal authorities. In this case, the cooperation between the three local councils is essential, as the park’s success requires a strategic, island-wide approach. By moving past years of administrative confusion, the Valle de Güímar Industrial Park is entering a new phase of efficient, public-private collaboration focused on long-term growth and maintenance.
