The Albia Group has opened a new, modern funeral complex in Los Realejos, Tenerife, providing the region's first local cremation services and specialized emotional support facilities for grieving families.

A new funeral complex has opened in the north of Tenerife, addressing a long-standing need for more accessible end-of-life services on the island. Located at kilometer 38 of the TF-5 in Los Realejos, the Albia Group facility serves nearly 200,000 residents who previously had to travel to the metropolitan area for cremation services.

Since opening on March 2, the center has already handled nearly 100 cremations. It is the company’s fourth location on the island and its seventh in the Canary Islands. The facility is designed to change how people experience grief by offering modern, supportive spaces. Notable features include an "immersive" cremation room that uses audiovisual projections to personalize the environment, as well as a dedicated area for children—a first for the Canary Islands—designed to help younger family members process their emotions.

The complex includes five wake rooms and a multi-faith chapel that can hold over 100 people. Future plans include adding columbaria and outdoor ceremony spaces. Beyond these facilities, the company provides a Grief Support Unit (UAD), which offers families free psychological counseling for up to a year after a loss.

By providing a local, multidisciplinary alternative, the center aims to make the grieving process more manageable and less isolating. It represents a shift in the Spanish funeral industry, moving away from traditional, private services toward a model that prioritizes comprehensive emotional and legal support for families.
