New Footage Emerges in Tenerife Motorway Crash Investigation
Newly released video footage of a fatal crash near the TF-1 motorway in Tenerife shows a vehicle swerving off the road, though investigators have yet to determine the cause of the accident.
The investigation into last Saturday’s crash in southern Tenerife has taken a new turn after the release of video footage showing the moments leading up to the accident. The video, obtained by a local news outlet, tracks the vehicle’s path before it collided with a bus shelter near the El Río-Chimiche exit on the TF-1 motorway.
The footage shows the car moving from the left lane toward Santa Cruz, then swerving sharply to the right to reach the service road. Shortly after this maneuver, the vehicle left the main road and struck the bus shelter.
While the video clearly shows the car's path, it does not explain why the driver lost control. Investigators are still considering several possibilities, including mechanical failure, driver distraction, or a sudden medical emergency.
This incident highlights the risks associated with high-traffic roads on the islands, where drivers must constantly navigate between fast-moving traffic and exits.
