The docudrama Con siete estrellas verdes premieres this Friday at Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, using the 1977 Los Rodeos air disaster to explore the intersection of regional identity and historical narrative.

A new stage production arriving in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is pushing the boundaries of traditional theater by blending historical fact with artistic interpretation. Con siete estrellas verdes: docudrama de una actriz canaria premieres this Friday at 8:00 p.m. at Espacio La Granja. The play uses the 1977 Los Rodeos air disaster as a starting point to examine how regional identity is formed and to challenge official historical narratives.

Produced by La Escrig Producciones, the show moves away from conventional storytelling. Instead, it uses a hybrid style that combines a lecture, documentary elements, and political suspense. This approach is designed to move the audience from passive observers to active participants, drawing them directly into the unfolding drama.

The story follows Erika Farcy, a local performer hired to act in a film about the air disaster that shaped the history of the Canary Islands. Through this "autofictional" lens, the play explores how the manipulation of historical events has influenced the islands' collective memory. Starring María de Vigo and Farcy, the production blurs the lines between film and theater, encouraging the audience to consider how easily history can be rewritten.

Tickets for the performance, which is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, are available now through the Espacio La Granja website and at the venue’s box office. The play serves as a thought-provoking look at how we process and reinterpret the past, even when it is deeply traumatic.
