Jesús Barranco is launching his new book, "Absurd Wars in History (2025)," this Thursday at La Frontera Town Hall on El Hierro. He'll be joined by Yauci Fernández, the director of Ediciones Singularidad, the book's publisher. The event kicks off at 7:00 p.m. in the town hall's main meeting room.
In his third book about history, Barranco looks at 10 wars that stand out because of their bizarre beginnings or the unusual people involved. He uses humor "and a little bit of mischief," which is typical of his style, to tell these stories from the past.
Barranco's funny and straightforward approach leads him to describe humans as "Homo violentus," highlighting how war has been a constant throughout human history.
