Santa Cruz: City Sightseeing double-decker buses carry tourists and locals.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, City Sightseeing double-decker tour buses have been launched and are already popular with tourists and locals.
City Sightseeing tourist buses have been launched in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. These are bright, double-decker buses that have been driving tourists and locals around the city for a month and a half. It is said that about 8,000 people have already used the service.
The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, said that these buses are not only environmentally friendly, but also help local businesses, as tourists can easily reach different parts of the city.
According to him, the double-decker bus offers a wonderful view of the entire city. And interestingly, almost half of the passengers are residents of the island who also want to take a fresh look at their city.
Carmen Pérez, who is in charge of the city's development, added that these buses have changed the perception of how to explore the capital. You can freely get on and off at any stop, which is very convenient. This helps tourists not to crowd in one place, but to travel to different areas, giving local entrepreneurs the opportunity to earn money.
The buses have audio guides in 11 languages and run every 20 minutes. Thanks to this, each trip turns into an interesting excursion where you can learn a lot about the history of the city and its attractions.
By the way, for the upcoming weekend, during the Plenilunio celebration, a bus ticket will cost only 2.5 euros for local residents. And every Sunday in October and November, after 4:00 p.m., the ride will be free for city residents.
During the operation of the buses, passengers from 4 cruise ships, as well as various private groups, have already used them. And, judging by the reviews on Google, people like everything very much – the rating is 4.8 out of 5 stars.
The bus route takes 75 minutes and passes through the most interesting places in the city: Plaza de España, Palmetum, the Tenerife Auditorium, the bus station, Tres de Mayo Avenue, the stadium, García Sanabria Park, the Military Museum, the market, the Museum of Nature and Archeology, and the House of Carnival.
Carmen Pérez also noted that the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium is now one of the bus stops. You can even book a tour of the stadium. This is a great example of cooperation between the city authorities and the sports club to attract more tourists.
The President of the Tenerife Sports Club, Felipe Miñambres, said that it is a great honor for them that a tourist bus stops here in the year of the stadium's centenary. He added that they want to introduce the city's guests to the history of the club.
City Sightseeing CEO Isaac Flores assured that they are happy to return to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and are ready to do everything possible for the development of the city. He emphasized the importance of creating new jobs, supporting local business and tourism.
Buses depart every 20 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. from the stop on Avenida Marítima, near Plaza de España.
With the mobile app, you can track the location of buses, learn about attractions and walking tours. The buses have audio guides, and headphones are provided free of charge. There is even a version of the audio guide for children.
A ticket for adult tourists costs 20 euros, for young people (7-16 years old) – 10 euros. Children under 6 years old can travel for free. There is a 75% discount for residents of Tenerife, i.e. the ticket will cost 5 euros for adults and 2.50 euros for children. The ticket is valid for 24 hours and can be used on any day of the year.
Tourists can buy tickets on the City Sightseeing website, and residents of Tenerife can buy them at the City Sightseeing office in Plaza de España. If you have a group of 10 or more people, you need to contact the company by phone at 673 289 848 or by email at info@city-sightseeing.es.
