National Police Dismantle Drug Trafficking Operation in La Laguna
Spanish National Police dismantled a drug trafficking operation in La Laguna, seizing over a kilogram of cocaine and hashish following the arrest of a dealer and a buyer.
The National Police have shut down a street-level drug dealing operation in La Laguna. Officers intervened after witnessing a transaction on the street, catching both the buyer and the seller. The buyer was found with an amount of drugs that exceeds the legal threshold for personal use, leading to criminal charges.
Supported by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Local Police Canine Unit, officers later conducted a court-authorized search of a nearby home. They discovered 284.9 grams of cocaine and 838.5 grams of hashish. These drugs and the primary suspect have been handed over to the courts.
This operation highlights the ongoing challenge of small-scale drug distribution in busy urban areas. Under Article 368 of the Spanish Penal Code, trafficking substances that pose a serious health risk carries significant penalties, which are determined by the type and quantity of the drugs involved.
