A series of five weak earthquakes with a magnitude of up to 2.0 on the Richter scale have been recorded off the coast of Tenerife, causing no damage and posing no threat to the population.

Last night was restless off the coast of Tenerife. Up to 5 minor earthquakes have been recorded on the island in the last few hours.

The tremors were felt at night and early in the morning. According to the National Geographic Institute (IGN), the earthquakes were very weak on the Richter scale and occurred mainly in the southeastern part of the island.

Starting at 00:30 AM, the seabed near Tenerife shook, causing a series of minor earthquakes. The IGN reports that their strength ranged from 1.6 to 2.0 on the Richter scale. This is considered low intensity, so despite the activity, no damage has been reported and there is no threat to the island's inhabitants.

The first tremor was recorded at 00:45 AM between Gran Canaria and Tenerife. It had a magnitude of 1.8 and a depth of 21 kilometers. Due to its small force and underwater location, people did not feel it.

The second earthquake occurred at 01:22 AM slightly further south, with a magnitude of 1.6 and a depth of 7 kilometers. The third tremor was recorded at 03:14 AM off the coast of Güímar, at a depth of 28 kilometers and with a magnitude of 1.7. It was the deepest of all.

The fourth earthquake occurred on land, at 06:13 AM, southeast of Granadilla de Abona, in the area of San Isidro and Castro. This time the tremor was at a depth of 14 kilometers and reached a magnitude of 1.7.

Finally, the fifth earthquake was also recorded in the ocean, not far from the southeastern coast of Tenerife, at a depth of 10 kilometers. Its intensity was the highest, at 2.0.

The National Geographic Institute notes that there have been many small seismic movements in Tenerife and other islands of the archipelago over the past 10 days. But most of them are very weak and people do not feel them, so there is no reason to panic.
