Nareme Melián to Lead Visual Design for Santa Cruz May Festivals for Third Consecutive Year
Artist Nareme Melián will return to lead the visual identity and stage design for Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s May Festivals for the third consecutive year, reinforcing the city's commitment to a cohesive aesthetic.
Nareme Melián will return to lead the visual identity and stage design for the May Festivals in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the third year in a row. This decision highlights the city’s strategy to build a consistent and recognizable aesthetic for its most important celebrations. Melián, a local artist, first made his mark in 2024 by incorporating traditional palm basketry into the Plaza de la Candelaria’s decor.
The City Council is prioritizing professional design to improve the overall experience for residents. Once again, Plaza de la Candelaria will serve as the main venue for the festival’s galas, which are scheduled for the final weekend of April: the adult queen will be crowned on Friday the 24th, the seniors' gala will take place on Saturday the 25th, and the children’s pageant will follow on Sunday the 26th.
In addition to the stage events, the city is accepting registrations until April 6 for the traditional Flower, Plant, and Handicraft Exhibition. This historic event will be held in García Sanabria Park and will remain open to the public from late April through May 3. By continuing to work with Melián, the city aims to move beyond simple decorations and create a professional, cohesive visual narrative for its public events.
