A special preview screening of Te protegerán mis alas, a film based on a novel by Salesian priest José Miguel Núñez about a Togolese orphan's journey to hope, will be held Monday at Multicines Tenerife, followed by a cinema run from November 21st to 27th.

A special preview screening of the film Te protegerán mis alas (My Wings Will Protect You) will be held this Monday at 11:00 AM at Multicines Tenerife in La Laguna. The movie is based on a novel by Salesian priest José Miguel Núñez and directed by Antonio Cuadri.

Attendees at the event will include the Bishop of Tenerife, Eloy Santiago, the author José Miguel Núñez, the Delegate for Migrations, Jesús Alberto González, and members of the film's cast and crew.

Before the film begins, there will be short talks about the project's origins. The aim is to encourage discussion about migration, a topic highly relevant to Tenerife today. Information will also be shared about the diocese's work with migrants.

The film will be shown in cinemas in La Laguna from November 21st to 27th as part of a special premiere.

The project was developed and funded by Misiones Salesianas, with collaboration in Spain from the International University of La Rioja (UNIR).

Te protegerán mis alas tells the story of Wentinam, a child from Togo who was orphaned and grew up on the streets. His early life was marked by hardship and he survived by forming bonds with other children facing similar struggles, often sacrificing their dignity for basic needs.

However, in this difficult environment, Wentinam encounters people who offer him hope, showing him that his life has value and encouraging him to find his own path.

He finds a turning point through the "Ciudad de los Muchachos" (City of Boys) and "Pequeños Hogares" (Small Homes), which provide opportunities, welcome, and education. His meeting with a Spanish missionary, his faith, and connections with other boys help him to move forward with renewed purpose.

The film stars Ibrahima Kone, Nacho López, Daniel Ortiz, and Alejo Sauras. It has already won several awards at festivals, including the Award for Best Feature Film 2025 at the Portobello Film Festival in London.
